BIO

Cate Whittemore, MFA, IATSE, is a visual artist whose varied works express meanings and insights found through depiction, color, sequence, & metaphysical imagery. She has been a theatrical scenery painter for Broadway and feature films, a court-room sketch artist, a boardwalk portrait artist, and is an award winning political cartoonist. In 2011 she was honored to be commissioned by the International Campaign for Tibet, to create a poster for religious freedom featuring a sanctioned portrait of the Dalai Lama.

She holds a BA in Studio Art/ Connecticut College, an MFA in Drawing and Painting / University of Minnesota , a two-year certificate in stage design from The Studio and Forum of Stage Design, NYC, and a Botanical Illustration certification from the Margaret Mee Foundation in Brazil.

She teaches locally, on zoom, and on retreat in Skyros, Greece, www.skyros.com. since 2015.

She lives and works in Buena Vista, CO.
